Solvusoft Reaches 100 Million New Global Users by Localizing into 23 Languages
“Managing the localization process across 23 different languages, and content splits between machine and human translation, is too much for us to manage in-house. It made much more sense to partner with an experienced localization specialist like LocServe to help us navigate this process.”
— Jason Geater, Founder, Solvusoft
Solvusoft Corporation is a Microsoft Silver Partner and a leading producer of award-winning utility software. Based in the United States, Solvusoft serves customers worldwide and maintains offices in Las Vegas, Chicago, Los Angeles, Jakarta, and London. Its products have been downloaded more than 150 million times across over 170 countries.
The Challenge
Solvusoft’s objective was ambitious: to create the world’s largest file-extension resource database, available in 23 languages, enabling millions of users globally to access accurate, localized technical information.
The scope of the project included:
- Over 17 million words suitable for machine translation
- Over 100,000 words of key content requiring professional human translation and review
- Content spread across:
- a web CMS
- offline HTML files containing software UI strings
- INI-based installer resources
The complexity was not limited to volume. The project required:
- careful separation of MT-eligible and linguist-translated content
- preservation of HTML markup and software placeholders
- consistent terminology across dozens of translators and reviewers
- coordination of delivery across multiple languages and release cycles
Managing this internally — across engineering, linguistics, quality assurance, scheduling, and vendor coordination — was not sustainable for the Solvusoft team.
The Solution
LocServe provided end-to-end localization delivery, covering technical engineering, workflow design, linguistic coordination, quality assurance, and ongoing project management.
Engineering & Automation
A customized Smart MT solution was implemented to handle the high-volume portion of the content. Unlike off-the-shelf MT engines, this approach preserved:
- complex HTML markup
- placeholders and variables
- structural integrity of software and web content
As a result, MT output was immediately publishable or, where required, ready for targeted human review — without costly manual cleanup.
Linguistic & Vendor Coordination
For professionally translated content, a distributed team of specialist linguists was assembled across 23 languages. These translators and reviewers had experience in:
- software localization
- technical terminology
- UI and web content
Processes were put in place to:
- manage linguistic queries centrally
- maintain an approved terminology database
- ensure consistency across languages and content types
- coordinate review cycles and feedback efficiently
This required ongoing oversight of multiple translators and reviewers working in parallel, with clear scheduling, issue tracking, and quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
Project, Quality, and Commercial Management
Beyond translation and engineering, LocServe handled:
- project planning and scheduling across all languages
- workflow orchestration between MT, human translation, and review
- integration of QA checks before delivery
- coordination of deliverables back into Solvusoft’s systems
- management of invoices and payments across vendors
- continuous communication with Solvusoft stakeholders
All aspects of delivery — technical, linguistic, operational, and commercial — were managed as a single, coherent process.
The Result
“The project has been a profound success. We have already served over a million visitors to this section of our website since we launched earlier this year. This is an evergreen resource, so we expect to realize the benefits more in the years to come.”
— Jason Geater
The localized resource now reaches users worldwide, reinforcing Solvusoft’s global brand and enabling sustainable growth across international markets. The solution was delivered on time, within budget, and at a level of quality appropriate for a high-visibility, long-term global asset.
A Repeatable Model for Global Scale
This project demonstrates how large-scale localization can be delivered successfully when:
- engineering, linguistics, QA, and project management are aligned
- automation and human expertise are applied where they add most value
- ownership of the entire workflow is clear and consistent
If you are planning a high-volume, multi-language localization initiative and need a partner who can manage the full scope — from engineering through delivery — LocServe can help.
