The Challenge
In total Solvusoft required the translation of over 17 million words in machine translation and over 100k of key content requiring professional translation. The bulk of this content resided in a web CMS and offline HTML files containing software UI strings, and an INI with software installer resources.

The Solution
Translation of complex software terminology was able to be achieved accurately using integrated Smart MT (machine translation) technology. This enabled automatic translation of industry terms quickly and successfully for usable translations without the need for a human translator. This allowed for high volumes to be processed efficiently.
Smart MT technology was utilized to enable automatic translation of complex software terminology. The content included HTML style markup and many placeholders – off the shelf MT engines would corrupt the HTML and attempt to translate or misplace the placeholders but the customized solution for Solvusoft proved effective in maintaining the integrity of the content. In short, the output produced after the machine translation process was instantly ready for publishing, or for key content, ready for further editing by professional linguists
To ensure the highest quality translation, LocServe gathered a team of linguists who had a background in software localization and understanding of industry terminology to translate and edit the UI and web content. Across 23 languages the team collaborated to share queries, maintain a terminology database approved by Solvusoft and share information on the various aspects of the project.
Using a team of expert translators ensured that all website content was created in a culturally sensitive way, and spoke to visitors on a local level. The combination of MT and human translation allowed for the project to be delivered within the deadline, budget, and the quality required in today’s market by international audiences.
